Other work experiences being continued

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog and today’s blog post will be basically continuing my work placements from the one company Beyond 2030 and from leaving there going into the job centre going through a two week training program to see if I’m actually capable on getting an apprenticeship with the job centre as well as my other work experiences that I went through I will be going through the good the bad and the horrifying experiences that I went through, so grab a snack?and get comfortable ?, because this blog post will be a long and interesting one too ?☕️.

After telling the main trainer before I actually got into the work experience and volunteering with the beyond 2030 is what I told him that I had autism and his reply is that “everyone has autism, in fact normally everyone who comes into the session is and what I told him “no I actually have autism” he was in shock that he didn’t know I actually have it, which I forgot to mention it on from my previous blog (sorry for not mentioning it from there ?)

When I was working with beyond 2030, I’ve learned so much from there including helping out people who are struggling with the work that was being provided, filling up the jugs of water, making sure the tea and coffee is already prepared as well as helping out those who needed additional help with the work being provided from the work folders. The best thing about helping out beyond 2030, going from a work experience placement into voluntary is getting to know the people a bit better and getting to realise the main relationship between student and a teacher, just realising it came from schools both primary and secondary as well as from college and university too ?.

After finishing my voluntary experience with Beyond 2030, it’s time for me to try something else though and that is to get an opportunity to gain an apprenticeship with the job centre doing customer service that was given to me by the job centre and from that point on I thought to myself, maybe I should give it a try and see what happens, so I went in at the job centre to see what was going on along with a group of young people doing exact same thing with me as well and experience whether it’s completely different first we had to go through the main entrance of the job centre, then we went through to the security office to sign in and they have taken us over to a meeting room where they go to explain to us how the program works and we basically continued it for two weeks.

The good news is that I got the experience that I needed when going through the two weeks program during my time there you have to go through a computer program that you have to learn for a short period amount of time and if you can pick it up well if you’re guaranteed for apprenticeship and if you didn’t pick up the pace, you’re won’t be available to get it. Unfortunately for me I didn’t actually get the apprenticeship, however I did get an additional two more weeks to go through my work experience at the job centre to see what it’s like though to go upfront in person as well as making guides on how to create social media accounts and finding job vacancies for the people who are looking for jobs and making the job vacancies presentable too.

After finishing off the four week work experience placement at the job centre, it was time for me to try working at the retail sector and I was strongly against it at first, because to me it felt a bit boring for me to work at and not being challenging, but my boss convinced me to give it a try and see what happens. I gave it a shot at a charity shop and luckily it wasn’t even far from the job centre so I can sign it back up for this many times as I can and from working in there is where the good the bad and the ugly starts to kick in. The good thing about working in there is that there are people out there who actually do understand where you’re coming from especially with the manager who actually understands me for the fact that I have autism and has told me on where I went wrong privately away from the customers.

The bad thing I had from working there is when I’ve made that very same mistake The assistant manager told me off about the front of customers and that is really wrong what is already been disciplined by the manager and not only that The assistant manager and another volunteer who recently started volunteering in the shop had started complaining the situation to her as if they were BFFs along with that is I have to work until 5 PM, which is also missing out my personal life too, but apart from those bad things that happened in there, we still managed to go along well in there and even learned for the fact that majority of the funding goes to charity and whatever stock is leftover get shipped out towards other countries who needed it the most.

After leaving the charity shop and attempted to go towards another educational program as well as getting dismissed very early, because of their criteria didn’t match to their standards at all, I decided to do a two week work placement with the job shop and this is where the horrific experience comes into play. From working at the job shop it was great at first but as I was getting along with the tasks involved and the people to talk to, especially with one person though he told me to take advantage of it though well I can within the two week work placement and he was absolutely right and I did take about a job out there by applying more job vacancies within the job shop that helped me increase my chances of getting a job. There have also been some bad times working there, especially with this one pacific person who surprisingly still works there ??.

While I was working there, The specific person told me to tell the person who is working on the computer to stay a little longer as much as he likes just to make him feel comfortable about himself and this person sadly is homeless and I followed her advice exactly on what she told me and I was told him that “you can stay here as much as you like” and he said “no no that’s fine I’m just about to go” and after I followed her advice and told him to stay has much as he likes she gave me a tongue lashing, right in front of everybody who works there as well as the customers in the job shop how pathetic is that ??? and just to make things even more worse as it was before when I was helping out a customer based on his login issues, so I helped him out as much as I can, but I couldn’t figure it out and have to ask for help from the team and tell me to go help someone else out and out they will get it sorted out.

Another incident that happened on the same day is when I helped out another customer out based on his CV and I gave him the option on asking for help from a job coach and he said no, so I helped him out with the CV and it was basically it was adding in parts to his CV and surprise surprise the very same envious job coach decided to intervene once again and said “what are you doing over there you shouldn’t be helping this guy at all, go help someone else” and who she’s on about there to help someone else was the very same guy who had login issues and was already been dealt with, talk about unprofessionalism and I don’t really see why didn’t the manager step in and deal with this person in the first place ????.

Despite the negative experience that I got from working with this specific person and I even got some positives from the other work colleagues, I’ve learnt so much from working in the job shop including meeting people and assisting them with their job search activities, working on the photocopier, changing the printer ink, arranging and rearranging leaflets and handouts as well as proofreading their application forms and their CVs too ????.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my other work experiences blog and I’m so sorry for having the blog post really long. Please stay tuned for the next post which will be on my experience with Foleshill Women’s Training (FWT) and don’t forget to leave a comment below on my blog post and spread the word out about my blog too. ???

Other work experiences

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog and today’s blog post will be on my work experiences since leaving work in a primary school and I’ve got so much to tell you on what I’ve been through ever since I left, I will be telling you the experiences that I went through going through the job centre and the experiences that I went through during my time there and my inspiration to change career path from being a teaching assistant into becoming a mentor/coach, so grab a snack ? and get comfortable ?, because this blog post is going to be a long one.

Ever since I left working in a primary school in December 2010, I decided to go on Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) so I can look for work and I get paid at the same time, unfortunately there are some obstacles along my way and when I was on Jobseeker’s Allowance, one of those things happened within the experience is that they swapped me around for every six months. For example if you sign in downstairs and you tell them what you been up to in the past two weeks and you told them the amount of jobs you applied for and they will tell you when you are going to get paid.

If you were about the sign in on that week and you told them the reason why you did not apply for any jobs whatsoever, because you had to revise for an exam that you’re trying to gain a qualification in that sector or having issues at home/going through some personal problems in life, that means you will be given a letter that will take you to another building where you have to listen to the people who work at the job centre telling you the importance on signing in on a regular basis as well as applying for jobs and the essential part on filling in the book.

The book that I was given by the job centre was clearly based on what jobs that I applied for, the time and date that you applied for, what will be the next action for you do and when will you find out about the outcome of it too. Along with applying for jobs is also the management to apply for it, i.e applying for it online or by hand with the application form and even in some cases that you have to provide evidence to prove to them that you applied for the job along with the outcome of it too ?.

After applying for a number of jobs as a teaching assistant and gaining no success for applying nor getting the actual job, however I did managed to get through to interviews, I even went through to teaching agencies in order to increase my chances on finding work but unfortunately I received no luck and the biggest problem I have though was finding references especially the work reference from back then the deputy headmistress who had a no nonsense approach and she never even gave me a chance to speak for myself at all ? the kind of treatment that I was given by her was outrageous and shocking too.

During my time at applying for jobs I also went to a company called Sencia that helped me increase my chances of getting a job and even in some cases I even had some interviews from agencies and even got some advice and guidance there on how to update on my curriculum vitae (CV), the hints and tips on going through to an interview as well as the courses that are provided by them in order to increase my chances of finding work. Unfortunately in that case it didn’t last long and I went back to the job centre and they also gave me a letter to go over to the job shop and listen to what the workers have to say on this upcoming reasons why we couldn’t get any work and I was given a letter to attend a course from the job shop and the name of the course and was given the time and date to start the course.

I went onto a course that was provided by the job shop and the company was called Beyond 2030 and what I was learning from them was level 1 in employability and from that point on, my life has changed completely and I realised that I wanted to become a mentor/coach instead of a teaching assistant and I felt really great and astonished about making this career change. I was given the advice about learning to do PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) which is now changed into AET (Award in Education and Training).

I even told the job centre about making a career change and the reaction that I got from them was a negative one and they started questioning about my career change and was not even looking at it in a positive prospective point of view ?. Despite the negative reaction that I have received from them, I still decided to follow my career aspiration on becoming a mentor/coach and I remained positive from that point even though it didn’t guarantee me a job, but I still gained the experience that I wanted to have on what it’s like to become an assistant mentor.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my other work experiences blog. Please stay tuned for the next post which will be other work experiences being continued and don’t forget to leave a comment below on my blog post and spread the word out about my blog too. ???

My continued work life as a Teaching Assistant (TA)

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog and today’s blog will be on my continued work life as a Teaching Assistant (TA) going from volunteering twice a week in reception to working full time as a so called student teaching assistant along with the benefits on being a teaching assistant and the drawbacks on working as a teaching assistant, so grab a snack ? and get comfortable, because this blog is going to be a long one.

As I continued to volunteer at a primary school and was doing as I was told to do by the deputy headmistress, deep inside of me, I felt a bit disappointed that I couldn’t challenge myself with a higher age group and being capable enough to move forward being thought to her mind that it would be too hard for me to handle it and at the same time, so I was pretty left with no choice, but to help around with the children in reception, but at least it’s something to work with and the staff in reception are good with it as well ?.

When I first started working in reception, I was nervous ? on what I got myself into especially with the children, they never see a new face coming over to them and helping them out. After bringing the children into the classroom and settling down, it was time for the teacher to introduce me to the children and had a mixed reaction from the children. Despite the fact that they’ve never seen a new person coming into the classroom for the first time and some of them were happy to see me and some of them were confused or even excited to see me in reception helping them out in the classroom.

Normally in year 2, they have a routine on what is going to happen on certain days of the week and even on when to have breaks and even give out homework to the children to complete over the weekend. However with the reception, once they have done their session, they go and play with the activities being provided by the teachers and it gets hectic most of the time ? and even the teachers try to attempt the children and gave them encouragement to put them away and for some of the teaching assistants have to put them away and clear everything away and then come back into helping the children out.

On how I received my full-time payment from a company is by the aspire scheme and what they do though is basically to help those who are actually trying to get into work who have actually got learning difficulties or disabilities. The only downside on this is that it will only last up to 9 months, however on the plus side you get the feeling of what it’s like to work full time and if you do well on your nine month work placement, you’ll be guaranteed a full-time job. Unfortunately I didn’t get the full-time job and when I questioned the deputy headmistress on where I went wrong and how I can improve on it for the next time, the man from the aspire scheme next to me said “there isn’t going to be a next time because you didn’t get the job in the first place” ? instead of helping me to improve on myself they actually gave me other options that are below my career aspirations and I felt really sad and angry about this experience and I was really passionate on improving myself better but instead I was pretty much going backwards on finding a job instead of going forward ?.

I started working full time in a primary school in March 2010 and finished working in that very same primary school till December 2010. During my new adventure on helping out with the children in reception, there have been some ups and downs when it comes to helping out in reception including helping a child with multiplication and the teacher didn’t have the guts to tell me not to teach them multiplying. If he told me not to teach them about it, I would have been fine with it, but instead he didn’t say anything about it until I mentioned it to him and when I told him about it, he told me not to teach them multiplication and the reason for it is because that they will not understand how multiplication works anyway ?.

Along the way of my journey some of the teaching assistants decided to bully me based on my appearance including one time when I scratch my head and format that is based on sweat in my scalp and when I told her that my head was itchy because of sweat, she still denied it and was still convened that was nits. From that point on I was angry that she didn’t acknowledge the fact that I was sweating from my kickboxing session that I had from the previous day ?. The same pacific teaching assistant thought I had nits and was talking negative things about me behind my back, who still managed to get away with murder and clearly doesn’t deserve to work in a school at all.

Another incident occurred when the supply to teaching assistant and the other teacher were having a conversation about the children and the staff all together and to make things worser than ever before, the so-called supply teaching assistant considered me as acting like one of the kids, literally the same place as the other teaching assistant has said about me and that is right behind my back ?. I was so angry that she said that about me and I really wanted to speak up about this, but the problem with that is if I tried to speak up about it, they will give me dirty looks, they would never trust me again and even worse they will consider me as a snitch.

Despite all the negative things that happened to me, there have been some positive experiences that happened to me in my life for example I managed to gain some experience working in a lower year groups meeting new children, getting to know the new staff especially the new ones and meeting the parents and asking for my opinion on how that child have done and I gave them my honest opinion I know you told them to expect to go speak to the main teacher because they are the ones that deal with them the most and I’ve got some thank you gifts from the parents which was so sweet and grateful that I’ve actually managed to help out on some the children out and I really felt appreciated with the amount of experience on working in a school ☺️.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my continued work life as a Teaching Assistant (TA) blog and I’m so sorry for being so long. My work life as a Teaching Assistant (TA)

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog and today’s blog will be on my work life as a Teaching Assistant (TA) going from volunteering at the school to working there full time including the tasks that I did working in a classroom environment and going through the change from working in year 2 into reception and how it impacted me later on within the year.

I started working as a Teaching Assistant (TA) when I was 18 years old as a volunteer at a primary school, working in year 2 on a daily basis. It was hard at first, but I got the hang of it during the time I was there. But during my voluntary experience, there was some miscommunication that I had with one of the teachers and the teaching assistants in year 2 and one of the teaching assistants was pretty much out of order and started to get angry towards me because I didn’t use the resources that were provided to me and I got upset and was even in tears all because of her angry tongue lashing to me ?.

All because of the fact that I was helping with the kids with the work and I didn’t use the resources that was provided even though I had it in my hand which I completely forgotten about it and and both the teacher and teaching assistant think I don’t have what it takes to become a teaching assistant and thought that the work was too hard for me as well as the fact that thought I was irresponsible as an 18-year-old that’s discrimination straightaway and yet they still have gone with the fact that I wasn’t capable to do the job and they also thought that I was too immature to help around with the children ?.

What made it even worse from the situation is that the main teacher of the classroom told me to come in twice a week instead of five days a week and decided not to discipline the teaching assistant who lashed her anger out towards me and gave me a tongue lashing and just because that teaching assistant who worked for the school doesn’t mean that she can get away with murder, unfortunately she got away with it and even though she apologise for what she did to me, I still ended up getting the punishment from the teacher which is completely biased and discriminating towards me ?. On a positive note, it gave me some time and a chance to do my GCSE resit in English (see my continued teen life in college blog post) and I even had time to have a good night sleep as well ?.

However the downside on having to volunteer two days a week is that I’m missing out on the action and I’m losing some of the experience on working full time as a teaching assistant in year 2 ? and what made it even more worse was that the deputy headmistress thought of an idea on making me go backwards instead of forwards by taking me to reception and helping up the children in that year group, it’s such a shame that she doesn’t see that I can do a lot more than just helping out little children and the fact that I have some potential on working in a school environment, because I already had some experience on volunteering with children in a higher year group like year 6 from my voluntary experience when I finished my GCSE exams ?.

As the deputy head mistress walks me to the reception classroom, she introduced me to one of the teachers in reception and he was a nice guy. He explained to me on how reception works and he even introduced me to the rest of the classroom, which the children were really sweet, but yet hard to handle. However the best thing about this was that I gained some experience on working with a younger age group.

My continued teen life in college

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog, today’s blog will be continuing my teen life in college, but with more of my experience on studying childcare and education along with my work experience in a primary school and what I had to do when working in a primary school, the struggles that I went through on gaining the qualification and even turned in voluntary for the school.

After finishing off my first work placement in a nursery and passing it with flying colours ?, I went onto my next work placement as part of my course and its in a primary school and it’s the same with this placement, but before me and two other students went to the other placement, we had a unit three exam to do and once we finished off the unit three exam, we got on the bus and headed over to our next work placement in the afternoon, due to the exam being held in the morning. As we arrived at our second work placement, we signed in at the entrance, were given badges and was told to take a seat at the waiting area for the deputy head to give us introduction of the school.

We were then escorted to her office to take about the procedure of e school, how it works within the school system and who we can ask if we had any concerns about anything or anyone within the school. After we completed the introduction, it was time to find out which classroom are we going in, there were only three opinions that were given to us and they are: go into either reception, year 1 or year 2 ?. I ended up taking on year 2 and the other students have taken year 1 and reception. Once that’s done, we were then taken over to the classrooms that we’ve chosen to go and the classroom that I went was not what I expected at all.

It started of with the teaching assistant from one of the classrooms introducing me to the classroom with a teacher and was told to sit in the classroom with the children and to keep an eye on them if they are misbehaving within the teaching as well as making sure that they are listening what they are saying. I even have to escort them to the assembly hall similar to what I did for my work experience with the special needs primary school back when I was in year 10. From February 2009 till June 2009 is when I finished my second work experience/placement in order to complete my CACHE Level 2 in childcare and education which it wasn’t easy at all, because during the Easter holidays I was making sure that the tasks that need to be done for next term of the school academic criteria including sharpening pencils, making sure that there are the same amount of pencil crayons and pencils in each compartment and put up display boards for the school to see what the kids have done.

Once I finished off my second placement there, passing it with flying colours, I then continued with my studies and even completing tests in which I failed from the first time round and eventually from that point I passed those three tests and they are the literacy, application of number and IT. I even went on to complete the assessments that were provided from college and from that point I passed everyone of them except one exam and that was the unit three exam ?. I eventually finished off all the assessments and finished of college in June. From that point I already failed the unit three exam the first time round and then I failed it again for the second time round ?.

I’ve got so much love and experience on working in a primary school though that in fact it was so good that I decide to stay even longer to continue with it as voluntary and I went from working in year 2 to reception in which that group that was dealing with a younger age group and believe me it was quite a change from working with 6-7 year olds all the way over to dealing with 4-5 year olds ?. Doing my voluntary experience working with children, I was also doing my GCSE resit in English that happened on a Monday evening in order for me to increase my chances on getting a higher grade for my GCSE English from that point it was all looking good though and they even did the exam go for the GCSE resit and I had to do a resit for the unit three exam back at the other college and of course I failed on the third attempt ?.

However there has been some good news coming from my college studies and that is that I passed my GCSE resit English with flying colours I finally got the grade that I needed to gain from having to do the GCSE resit English, from having a grade D from my resit in English to having a grade C ☺️ and I was thrilled with the result that I even showed it to my mum who was waiting patiently for my result and she was thrilled with the result too.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my continued teen life in college blog. Please stay tuned for the next post which is my work life as a Teaching Assistant (TA) and don’t forget to leave a comment below on my blog post and spread the word out about my blog too. ???

My teen life in college

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog, today’s blog will be on my teen life in college, which includes what I’ve studied in college, the assignments that I have to do in college, the work experience and the expectations that was provided from college and the challenges that I have to face along the way in college.

When I first went to college I was really nervous I really didn’t know what i’ve got myself into. However I was reassured by great lectures that actually help me out though achieve my qualification as best as they can. I was fortunate enough to go to a college that helps with special-needs, in which I actually have and it helped me go through my studies within childcare and education and to top it all off though they also give out in level one qualifications in IT literacy and application of number. When I first studied in college was on sleep deprecation and cognitive development, from that part alone, I was already interested to learn even more on childcare and education ?.

There were some exams in there that you have to do including unit three exam which actually takes up the main part of the course that can separate you from either passing or failing the course, but it’s a handwritten exam and to top it all off, there’s even more exams to go though, but that’s only alright they were on the computer and the subjects doing it in IT, literacy and application of number.

From my studies in college, I’ve learned quite a lot on childcare and education including child development, health and safety within a childcare environment, types of play, the motor skills, theorists of play, the kinds of policies and procedures that are within the environment, the celebrations across the world and even on how to deal with certain kind of behaviour that can occur from children as well.

On November 2008, I had my first work placement in a childcare environment was held in a nursery. Myself and two other students were in the staff room, listening to the manager of the nursery on how the nursery works and their procedures within the environment and where we were going to be placed in order for us to know in where we are going to be in and even have to swap ourselves round in order to get a different experience on working with children in different age groups too. Some lasted a day and some only lasted for a few minutes, depending on the situation of the nursery.

I was in the room where the 12-18 month olds are and there were about 8 babies in the room and I was really nervous about working around with babies, because I literally didn’t know on what I got myself into and I never dealt with babies before ?. As time went by, I’ve learned so much from working in a nursery and even had a great experience on dealing with babies, toddlers and with the 4-5 year olds.

During my placement in the nursery, I was going through an assessment and I was being observed by my tutor in childcare and education. The responsibility that I had to do is feed a 12-18 month old baby and I was doing the up and down motion in order to cool the food down and feed it to them. I repeated the motion multiple times and while I was feeding him, the baby started to fall asleep in front of me while I was feeding him (aww ?) luckily the nursery nurses have asked me to feed another baby since the first one fell asleep.

My continued teen life

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog, today’s blog will be on continuing on my teen life in secondary school, continued studying, going through the transaction from sixth form into college and even made a sacrifice of giving up music which literally changed my life forever ?, so grab a snack and get comfortable, because this blog is going to be a long one.

After going from year 9 to year 10 of secondary school, I ended up learning to health and social care at a foundation level (I’m not talking about the make up wise ?) all the work and tasks that were provided to me and the others was truly based on coursework and no exams at all, which is great meaning there was less pressure on us ?.

I ended up taking five GCSE and they are English, Maths, Science, Food Tech and Music (Great subject to study ever ?) however majority of my time was spent on studying health and social care, from making posters and leaflets into making PowerPoint presentations clearly based on health and social care as well as answering the questions that were provided in the coursework. and what made it worse is that GCSE music lessons were held after school ?.

I did however manage to continue with the vocal lessons, even through year 10 and year 11, I kept going throughout the years and I even had to do the vocal exam as well and I passed on my vocal exam which is awesome ? as for English, maths and science though which was a lot more harder than I had anticipated from the years 10 and 11. Maths for me was really a lot more harder that because you’re to work out a lot more than just adding and subtracting, it’s also on the maths equations that needed to be completed as part of studying secondary school.

During my time in year 10 I had to go to work experience and I was told to work in a charity shop and was then told over to another shop which I had no idea where is truly based in so I spent one day in school as normal and was then told to work in a special-needs primary school which is the same school I went to for primary school what I did my work experience was that I had to help with the children with their work get the room prepped and even escort them to the assembly hall.

Also within my work experience I had to fill in the booklet which was part of the task what I did on work experience, which was provided by the secondary school that must be completed every time you finish off your day of work experience. From that moment I realised that the I want to become a teaching assistant I decide to work in education was really my ideal role after being told by the teachers that going in the field of music is not the ideal career aspiration ?. I had a really good time and I’ve learnt so much within my work experience.

By the time I reached up to year 11, there is even more work to go throughout the year and also the bullying actually kept getting higher due to my weight and I literally ignored them and just carried on going forward and altogether I had to do 10 GCSE exams majority of all of my exams were held in the school library in order to help me to concentrate on my exams, except for music because it’s a listening exam and therefore I had to listen to what the question being provided within the exam.

I was doing well on learning on how to play the electric guitar, until my original instructor left school and replaced him with a new instructor and I didn’t get a lesson from the new instructor for 6 1/2 months and when I do get the lesson from him, I had to learn everything all over again, which is even more time-consuming ?.

In sixth form I decided to continue my health and social care in the intermediate level I even did AS Level Study on music. I also did the GCSE resit on English which unfortunately history repeats itself, I even went on to a teacher training course in order to get the experience on being a teaching assistant on a regular basis and every day from Monday to Friday I had to head over to room 14 first thing in the morning to help the students out with their additional needs on English, Maths and Spelling, which is all on ILS (independent learning support) being completed on the computer.

In April 2008, I have to make a sacrifice that literally changed my life forever and that is to give up studying music to avoid redoing my AS-level music and go to college and to do some thing else with my life ?. The reason on why I was told to go to college is because the teachers wanted me to move on with my life and told me that re taking AS Level music would be history repeating itself. I felt heart broken when I received the news that I wasn’t able to continue with my AS Level music and what made it worse in sixth form is that after telling my friends about me being autistic, one person decided to research about it on Wikipedia about and read about it in front of my friends instead of accepting it like a human being ?.

However there is a positive to all of this and that is I managed to finish off my intermediate level in health and social care in June 2008 from completing all of my coursework before the end of June and gained a qualification in the subject along with the experience on helping out other students out with their work, both additional support and classroom wise too and that is something to be grateful on ?.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my teen life blog. I’m so sorry for this blog post being so long. Please stay tuned for the next post which will be continuing my teen life in college, don’t forget to leave a comment below on my blog and spread the word out about my blog too. ???

My teen life

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog, today’s blog will be on my teen life which includes my experience with going through secondary school from year 7 to year 11 and even through sixth form as well. I will telling you on the ups and downs that I went through from having a hard time with my studies including maths and physical education into falling in love with music and how it grew from that point onwards.

My life in secondary school was pretty much like a roller coaster, there are so many ups and downs in life, from getting bullied at school truly based on my appearance and mocking me on a diagnosis in sixth form to gaining qualifications and even receiving great achievements both academically and in training too (stay tuned for my kickboxing journey blog ?) and many other experiences that happened to me during my time in secondary school and in sixth form.

From day 1 of secondary school, it was great and nerve wrecking, due to the transformation going from primary school to secondary school as well as being a nightmare, due to moving from one lesson into the next lesson along with being punctual for that particular lesson for every subject (talk about running around like a bunch of chickens ?) it got even harder for me when it reached up to mathematics and PE, due to the fact that I struggled on working out the equations and questions being provided from the textbook in maths.

As for PE, I didn’t feel like I blended in with the group and I even got bullied from being in PE, because in year 9, these two girls right next to me were talking about my appearance saying that I look like a man and were also calling me fat as well and the bulling on my physique didn’t stop there, other students have continued to pick on me on how I look like and I still managed to do well on my studies and I even out studied on some of the students (Ha what goes around, comes around ?)

During my time in secondary school, I discovered my love of music and even ended up taking vocal lessons in a weekly basis since year 8 and I’ve learned so much from my vocals lessons, from expanding my notes to exercising my vocal cords and learning the breathing techniques being provided by the singing teacher at school. By the time I reached up to year 9, my vocals were getting better and I even learned to sing some songs that were provided in the vocal lessons at school.

My love of music grew even more when I started to learn to play the electric guitar when I was in year 10, thanks to the inspiration of Santana, System of a down, Korn and Nirvana. I was doing well on learning the cords and notes on the guitar and I loved it even since. ?

My tween life being autistic

Hi everyone and welcome back into my blog and today’s blog will be on my tween life being autistic, which includes the challenges that I went through including my early experience in a trying to fit in at school as well as being bullied in school and the benefits from the support that I received from the teachers (from the good ones, not the bad ones.) and the guidance from them too. Once again this part of the story is not described by me, but it is explained by my mum and this is the story being continued on my childhood being autistic in her own words.

At this stage we were thinking of what secondary school she could go to, mainstream secondary or special needs secondary school. The head teacher first thought that maybe special need but almost a year later it comes that Arveena can cope with the mainstream school. The head teacher and another teacher from her primary school, myself including came to see the mainstream school and spoke to the people in the special needs department and explained everything about Arveena’s situation and that she would need some help.

Her brother Arvin went to the same school, so she had seen the building and some classrooms when we had parents meeting or any other functions, that does not mean that she didn’t have any problems. When the school term started in sept, I had to take her all the way to the hall, that’s first half term, next half term left her just outside the hall, then just outside the door, then next half term I started to leave between the school hall and the maim entrance. The next term just cross the busy road, by the end of school year I would just make sure that she had crossed the two main roads to the school.

In school she did have some problems being bullied. The school staff was really good, any problem and they would sort them out. A year later I was taking her to school and out of the blue she said mum I can go to school on my own. I felt so helpless I didn’t know what to do but at the same time I was glad that she was going on her own.

Even through she was bullied at school, she managed to make some nice friends and even went to an after school club where the teaching assistants helped her out with her homework if she needed any help with it and at the end of every school term, she had improved with her studies overall.

My continued childhood being autistic

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog, today’s blog will be continuing to discuss my childhood being autistic, along with activities that I did after school and the trips that I went to growing up. Once again this part of the story is not described by me, but it is explained by my mum and this is the story being continued on my childhood being autistic in her own words.

Before going into secondary school, She did after school activities like football and fun club in the normal school where she had fun. She went to trips, played games and drawing. She went to the zoo, the beach and bowling. She went to ice skating, she loved all her trips, expect ice skating, because she fell on her bum by few times.

We did everything as a routine and if there something different we would tell her first. We were going to the city centre in the bus. I would explain to her everything from leaving home going to the bus stop and wait for the bus, we needed some change for the ticket (child’s bus ticket was 50p back in those days). I would tell her where to put the money in the ticket machine. It was a pleasant visit to the city centre, when she had a school trip in the bus, she knew what to do. When she came home she told me she remembered what to do.

Another thing she did in her primary school was swimming. From that little girl who was crying because she didn’t want to go in the water, ended up gaining a nickname of mermaid, she loved swimming so much. She is almost 10 1/2 years old and the changes in her body coming so me and different teacher did the same thing, everything the teacher taught her about the changing, I would talk about the same thing at home.

At this stage she was asking questions and without confusing more I would only tell her what she wanted to know, if the questions were a bit different to answer then I would say that when the right time comes, the teachers would tell you.

This concludes on my childhood being autistic. Stay tuned for the next post which will be starting on my tween life with autism, don’t forget to leave a comment below on my blog and spread the word out about my blog too. ???
